The criminal package, the other narrative and the International Authoritarian Movement

"I am terrified, pre-trial detention has become a kind of weapon at the disposal of the judges to silence, this is a dictatorship, sorry, the dictatorship is implanted in a very perverse way, I fear for all of us"
Daniela Thomas, filmmaker, in an interview with TUTAMÉIA.

Freedom of the Press Foundation issued a note on the investigative threat of journalist Glenn Greenwald, who issued illegal conversations between Judge Moro and Lava-Jato prosecutors, by the Federal Police: "It is not just a scandalous attack on the press, but a serious abuse of power. "

I watched in the debate on the so-called "Package Against Crime" presented by the same personage, now Minister of Justice, launching a campaign in the Public Defender's Office of the State of Rio de Janeiro, as well as the Public Hearing on the subject in the Commission of Human Rights and Minorities. In the Chamber of Deputies of Brasilia.

The first was the participation of Simone Schreiber, federal prosecutor, member of the Association of Judges for Democracy (AJD), Maíra Fernandes, of the Brazilian Institute of Criminal Sciences, Renata Neder, research coordinator of Amnesty International Ivanir Mendes dos Santos, who murdered his son for the police, the State Front of Prison, Emmanuel Queiroz, who coordinates the Criminal Defender of the Public Defender of Rio, among others.

Simone Schreiber recalled the speech of the current president of the Jornal Nacional (Globo TV news) in August 2018: "The policeman, if he kills 10, 20 or 30, should be decorated, will he give them a small flower?"

At the beginning of the debate, it was emphasized that the project would be "more of the same" and that citizens' rights of defense are strongly compromised, increasing the segregation of black and peripheral youth.

In addition, the new law would give legal validity to actions currently unjustified in practice, abuses of authority and pure and simple extermination.

Eventually, we would ignore Supreme Court jurisprudence and even the milestones of civilization, such as the presumption of innocence. This would lead to more innocent people being punished, that is, imprisonment without full right of defense.

As said by  Livia Casseres, public defender of Rio de Janeiro, in the Chamber hearing, there already exists in Brazil a double standard of condemnation, a sub-citizenship. Now this logic of enemy of the state is reinforced, combining the function of the Army, the national defense, with the responsibility of the internal security, in a "war against the population".

According to the PT deputy, Erika Kokay, the Bolsonaro´s government works with "magic solutions". Symbolic dehumanization, which leads to literal dehumanization. "Brazil lives by re-establishing the colonial methods, where human beings are considered properties, and if they rebel because they are property, they must be eliminated."

It seems that in the logic of force, it would be worth everything in this "war", there would be no "rights" of the enemy. It would be the security policy of the "shooting", even the impossibility of know for sure if someone is a "good citizen" would justify death.

Renata Neder, in the debate in Rio, pointed out that somehow the progressive groups did not listen to the legitimate desire for security of the people, which opened space for false solutions and political mobilization of fear.

Luiz Nassif said these days in his Youtube channel that Justice was used as a tool of the State to attack opponents. It seems that we have rulers in a flagrant attack on the Constitution and institutions of 1988.

Another speaks of that interview with the Jornal Nacional should draw attention: "Don't listen to historians," said Bolsonaro.
I think that, in mafia logic, only one authority is allowed. The authority of ignorance must silence all authority based on convincement. (It does not help the twentieth century have created such a big suspicion about the truth.)

To this day, we had the "opinion formers," a small group of experts, activists, journalists, artists, trying to fight against the arbitrariness of an unequal republic with centuries of structural violence. Citizenship advanced after two decades of a dictatorial terror empire aligning the legal discourse with the international standard, established pattern after the Holocaust.

But the little investment in education, corporate censorship, and the communicative blockage of media are taking their toll.

"Just killing a few" - who never heard it of a taxi driver? I've seen leftwing taxi drivers, but this professional seems to be a symbol of the citizen with some gain and very little formal education, the neoliberal time that only admits investment for profit. The same as the retired-monster, blind with the fear of losing his property.

Panic, the fastest solution, the profit ethic created the cabdriver republic, aligned with a faction of the legal caste contaminated by prejudices never questioned. "Abuse of power" is being propagandized as a passport to complete domination in a certain middle class desirous of getting rid of any civilizing commitment.

The danger is that the truth no longer counts, just count my hatred and prejudice - "it does not matter, he is one of us" - as Matthew D'Ancona comments in "Post-truth: the new war on truth" (Faro editorial, 2018). The "Lama Jato" operation was an advertising campaign to make room for right-wing candidates (pró-themselves) by ridding themselves of the left-wing for the irrational.

Still talking about the interview in the  Jornal Nacional, let's remember that "the vice candidate on the plate of former President Lula, the former mayor Fernando Haddad, was not invited." (Rede Brasil Atual - 08/29/2018). This tells us about the complicity of the corporate media system, the fear of another victory of the left.

Now the miserable mass will be incarcerated. And after 350 years of slavery, abandonment, let´s make the prisoners produce a profit, in privatized prisons, for capitalism.

"The social progress of recent years creates resentment in the upper layers that are threatened by the progress of the poorest ..." (Paulo Moreira Leite, The Other Story of Lava-Jato, Ed. Geração, p.100)

This seems to be confirmed with the hate speeches in Facebook groups in which I was included (usually neighborhood residents fighting against big constructors speculation 6 years ago)- I wonder if we even have a democrat middle class, regardless of right or left.

It is no surprise that the "legal hunter" former judge is also the one who proposes a racist project of mass incarceration, with the freedom to kill and agreements without trial. Sometimes I wonder if this is not the country project of armed groups.

Unfortunately, this occurs in other parts of the world, the promotion of authoritarianism and the "our people" supremacy.

In India, "the most frustrated young people are becoming a shock force at the service of the most virulent Hindu nationalism," says journalist Jorge Almeida Fernandes. (Público, 03/03/2018)

"India is witnessing massive repression against lawyers, journalists, activists, and human rights defenders, who have criticized the state," Amnesty International said.

In Hungary, according to Ákos Hadházy (of the LMP party), the executive has invested more than 320 million euros of public money in advertising for 60% of the Hungarian population in the two years preceding the parliamentary election in 2018. "The election was not a fair fight," he said (Público, 4/9/2018).

In Poland, the party of Jaroslaw Kaczynski, Law and Justice (PIS), has already carried out deep reforms in the legal system. Says political scientist Aleksandr Smola:

"The promotion of Christian and Democratic origins is the basis of their ideology, but the party also spreads a hate speech against multiculturalism, social change, gays, feminism and even ecologists."

10 years after the 2009 coup, according to former President Manuel Zelaya, Honduras, is undergoing a dictatorship.

"Here, there are military laws that invade the civil sphere. Constitutional guarantees have been suspended, power has been centralized, the debate as well as democracy ... Violated the constitution: the president could not run for a new term and, Instead, he did it and now he's winning the elections with fraud. There's a dictatorship set up here and it's approved by Washington. " (Brazil de Fato, 11/11/2017)

According to Rodrigo Lentz, former coordinator of the Amnesty Commission and doctoral student in political science at the University of Brasília, the political activism of the Brazilian military has come from the founding of the Escola Superior de Guerra in 1949, which thinks the Armed Forces in relation to the "national objectives". For him, the military could even be behind the technological war in the election campaign, since they formed officers to act in social networks.

He claims:

"Brazil has always been at war in the military's eyes ... Lava Jato Operation herself used methods that were widely applied by Brazilian criminal law, especially against poor blacks... There is a geopolitical alignment with the United States that is doctrine and has a long tradition. " (Sul21 - 24/06/2019)

Afraid of global conflict, automatic alignment with the US, defense of corporate myth. For those formed in the 1970s, multipolarity was not accepted. For a colonial army, the people are the enemy ...

The new Army mission, to which the past years are added under the positivist influence, seems to be to maintain the "internal order" and to "preserve the homeland" of its internal enemies ...

The French military model developed during the Indochinese war is applied in Algeria and responds to a conflict prevention requirement, based on a reflection on the political role of the Army, according to researcher Rodrigo Araujo (University of Toulouse 2).

It seems that reserve militia, with a sense of fear of change, or "subversion," are even in shock with the conservative but realistic thinking of the active military. This does not invalidate a more or less automatic corporate union in the face of external/internal "danger", buying the narrative of corruption in a single party.

There are many statements by members of the Executive against Congress (designed in the period of re-democratization after 1985), which during progressive governments was a barrier to social advancement, but now shows that it can be a barrier to tyranny.

While a police state is being created, government popularity drops, football fans jeer the president and the Justice Minister visits the US spy agency. It is the struggle of the Planalto (the Executive) pen and its police-congressmen (PSL party) against the networks of organized society. The challenge now is to know to what extent institutions and "public opinion" can survive the onslaught of a privatized government machine and the advance of lying propaganda.
