Newspapers were talking about the disappearance of a well-known publisher. Businessmen had also disappeared from hotels.

She remembered playing with her parents by the river when she felt free.

She thought: religious freedom, with fundamentalism in politics; ability to protest freely with brutal police; free press, with a family monopoly; and rule of law with class justice.

She had heard the agents talk about fabricated cases with unfair trials.

There emerged in the provinces "humiliation teams" of students against minorities - the government inciting "cultural war". This new law would legalize abduction.
